Conditional forgiveness
The unscriptural practice of confusing forgiveness w/ salvation
If God can renege on forgiveness (as seen in the parable of the unforgiving servant), can He take back salvation? Do Christians vacillate between saved and unsaved status? Does our eternal depend on our present sin(s)? Does salvation depend on repeated confession or other religious activities?
From outward appearances, Jesus adds a condition onto salvation. We must have faith in Him, and we must forgive others. Does our forgiveness change our salvation? Will God change one’s eternal destination if they cannot forgive a single person who really hurt them? I know some horrific stories that call for super-human forgiveness. Will God send a believer to hell for failing to forgive a tormenter? Let’s review the Scriptures instead of relying on emotion or opinions.
