I am generous about Christians who defend false prophets. It’s not my place to question their salvation publicly, but privately, I shake my head in disbelief. How can one claim Christ while one follows and defends false prophets? It’s especially frustrating after the false prophet is publicly exposed. Are their followers real Christians or play acting?
For those of us who intensely study the New Testament, it’s no surprise to read warnings about false believers. A new or uninitiated believer might recoil at just the mention, but it’s a real phenomenon within God’s people and especially within local churches. There’s no need to fear this topic, nor to react with paranoia. It’s not the job of true Christians to seek out, expose, or condemn the false believers among us. We act the same towards all people – with love – while we hope for God’s best for them.
